This employer is very hard to get back into after you have worked or left there on good terms. Even if you worked hard for them, and was commended for a job well done. They pick and choose who they want, choosing favorites over a person better suited for the positions hiring or the experience you have.
The only way you can move up from a part time status, which you are only hired as part time most of the time, is only if there I a management position open somewhere. They do not have or offer regular full time hours to a regular worker.
Overall compensation for your work
The company has a good starting wage. Reviews are excellent ways of getting a pay raise and moving up the ladder in compensation. You can only receive benefits if you are a full time worker.
There is no vacation available for part time workers. Hours are not normal. Instead of giving more hours to associates at holiday seasons, they prefer to hire more people.
This job does not have or offer job security. However, again they only rehire personal favorites. This job may have steady hours and a schedule to follow, but it is not a stable job and if a position is eliminated, then they will try to move you to a different store.
There are no ramps or elevators to accommodate disabled persons, in my location.
There is sufficient training to ensure the safety of the workers, and the safety of the customers. Safety is number one!
Suggestions for improvement
- Do not make suggestion on rehire, but not follow through. A company should not be picking favorites. There is no job security here. So it is unfair to pick a previous favorite employee over another previous employee who is better suited for the position.
What I like about the company
They offer a store discount. They sell a little bit of everything, that you would normally see in a department store. Flexible scheduling, concerned bout the employee,
What I dislike about the company
They tell you if you leave for any reason, they always do rehire in the future, and can start back at your prevailing wage, or higher because of advanced training or working other sales positions, but they never do what they say. They choose then"favorites", and those favorites do not have to refill out a job application, but they tell you in order to see bout rehire, you must complete an new applications. That's unfair treatment.
