  • I would get better smoke filters and treat the mutuals players better. I would serve food more often to the customers for free.

Company Culture

I found management to be obsessed with charts and metrics to the point that developers feel pressured to fudge the numbers and either sandbag the sizes of their stories or falsify the status.

I did not do this and was dinged for it.

Support from management

Management is concerned with numbers over people.

Teamwork

There are very talented people working there. But because of the culture and pressure from management it can be high pressure and overly dramatic.

Freedom to work independently

You are not only free to work independently it is overly encouraged.

Internal Communication

People are discouraged from asking questions. It is seen as weakness.

Overall compensation for your work

VERY competitive salary. Not worth it in my opinion but they do pay well for those who can fit in.

Office / Work Environment

Kind of sterile and compact. People work right on top of one another. It might be more appealing to some people. It is kind of the trend today in office design in order to make it more "collaborative". I am old though and find it just intrusive so that might just be me.

Job Security

Gambling is not going away any time soon. The company stock is on a steady track for growth. Get in, make some money, but don't count on staying long term.

Challenging Work

They are on the cutting edge of work in Java, Spring and Amazon Web Services. There are a lot of talented people there.

Suggestions for improvement

  • Hard for me to say. I did not like the culture but I am the first to admit that there are some incredibly talented people working there. They implement a very dogmatic and orthodox flavor of Agile Scrum and Kanban. It works well enough for them, but as I said the obsession of management with charts and numbers is a bit over the top.

What I like about the company

You can work with talented people doing cutting edge work. They pay very well and ask a great deal. They have a lot of perks as well. Free meals a couple times a week, free snacks 24/7. A lot of that is offered to prevent people having the excuse to leave, but they do not scrimp on feeding people to keep them at it in order to fix a problem.

Support from management

They didn't care what type of environment their employees were working in. Employees were disrespectful to each other and when you told management about it they wouldn't address the situation. Situations got out of hand at times because of this issue.

Company Culture

No structure. I had several co workers saying my job wasn't needed because they were intimidated at what I do. QA analyst who couldn't write a line of code telling everyone they didn't need automation and it wasn't written correctly. Scrum Master who tried to intimidate me explaining he had visited a mobile gaming company and they didn't have automation so Churchill doesn't need it. Churchill has a web application not a mobile gaming site. They laid off their mountain view California software office and are going downhill fast.
