The owner believes that the best productivity comes from screaming at people and tearing down their self esteem. He is against team work because he believes teams will plot against him, so he purposely turns employees against each other. This results in a very toxic and depressing culture.
Support from management
The owner sees employees as property. He also screams at employees that they are stupid because they don't have money. When the owner gets caught forgetting arrangements or not paying vendors, he blames his employees by name.
The owner is against teamwork.

The owner does not trust employees to make any decisions at all.
The owner requires all communication and decisions to go through him. He is constantly making side deals and telling untruths to obtain an advantage (or to cover up) but doesn't write anything down and mostly forgets what he said or arranged, which leads to awkward conversations with customers and vendors and creates failures to produce.
There are only 3 women and all 3 are paid way below industry standard for positions they hold.
Attitude towards older colleagues
The owner mistreats everyone, regardless of age.
There is no career track in the company.
Overall compensation for your work
I am paid about $20,000 less than industry standard. There are no benefits.
Office / Work Environment
The building is cheaply maintained, office supplies are not regularly purchased, and office machines are highly outdated.
The owner is against environmental friendliness. He considers it to be part of the liberal agenda.
The owner provides no benefits, including no paid time off. In fact, when the owner wants to have more spending money, he will put the entire staff on reduced time/pay despite no drop in work load. Employees are forced to take on second jobs to make ends meet.
The owner is known for dishonest business practices. Employees have a hard time establishing and maintaining business relationships because of it.
The owner rarely fires anyone because he doesn't want to pay the Unemployment penalty. Instead, he reduces hours and pay to the point that you have to quit.
The building is barely accessible to the able bodied.
OSHA came through and gave the company a very poor rating.
While flying blind is challenging, it is not a good challenge. And, if you succeed at anything, the owner will tear you down to make sure you don't think too much of yourself.

The owner refuses to hire diverse applicants. He keeps employee counts to 49 or less.
