Yearly layoffs + no yearly raises = Cisco

Not recommended
Former EmployeeWorked in IT at Cisco Systems in Lawrenceville, GA until 2015.

What I like

Flexible hours, ample parking.

What I dislike

Management totally disregarded comments, ideas for improvement and other suggestions from workforce. Mgmt simply doesn't care. Yearly layoffs and lack or raises stink, too

Suggestions for improvement

Give employees yearly raises, which are more than deserved. Get out of your ivory tower and LEARN from employees

Company Culture

Average for friendliness but management at all levels is closed to any new ideas or improvements

Internal Communication

Cisco communications are strictly a 1-way street: top down only

Inclusive / Diverse

If nothing else, Cisco is inclusive and diverse. Very good at this

Attitude towards older colleagues

Wow, everybody and I mean EVERYBODY over 50 who isn't a VP gets canned. We lost so many great, experienced people, it's ridiculous

Office / Work Environment

No assigned cubicles - 1st come, 1st served DAILY for little desks built for 7th graders

Workplace Safety

Safe place to work, physically speaking (but unsafe re: job security)

Overall compensation for your work

Cisco pays at the low end of the industry average plus there are ZERO yearly raises for rank & file (gotta get a promotion for a raise) and the yearly bonuses are parsimonious and calculated via a magical black box

Job Security

YEARLY LAYOFFS REGARDLESS OF JOB PERFORMANCE!! Even if Cisco had a record year for net profits, they'll lay off thousands. And Cisco HATES older workers

Work-Life Balance

Support from management

Freedom to work independently

Environmental Friendliness

Handicapped Accessibility
