Freedom to work independently

There has been a lot of micro management lately from the district and regional managers

Internal Communication

They started the thumbs up program where employees can recognize each other for various reasons

It feels like people are more likely to be hired rather than promoted from within

Overall compensation for your work

Given the number and tasks and job requirements it definitely needs to be higher, at least at a living wage. Having been with the company for some time as a manager associates shouldn't be able to start at a dollar or two less. Especially when it takes

Office / Work Environment

In location the temperature is controlled from Georgia and often not in line with the weather in Virginia, register system could use an update

Work-Life Balance

A lot of blackout dates where vacation isn't allowed. Management usually only allowed one weekend a month, with some weekends being blacked out. Your shift can start anywhere from 8 am to 1 pl and end anywhere from 6 to 10 pm

Number of tasks required to complete are far greater than the number of team members

Suggestions for improvement

  • A company standard of when stores should close early, close for the day, or accommodations that can be made when employees are facing severe weather.

What I like about the company

I am fortunate enough to have an amazing team.

What I dislike about the company

The micromanagement of the stores. How loss prevention is more focused on the employees. The unrealistic expectations of shipment processing or markdown completion when store is staffed with less than 4 people per shift.

All of the stores are in the ruffest parts of any city... Dangerous....

Support from management

With all you have to do in a day a break is out of the question...

Teamwork

If you find a strong team it will at least make your days tolerable

Most of your shifts it yourself and one cashier ...so not only are you hanging feight and putting out accessories your also watching for theives all day...

No what it could be... But it okay for management

On top of everything else there is office work also.... Checking behind ur cashier (QC)

Its always hood.... And in a dangerous location i think he looks for the worst spots for all his location

Freight is always heavey. With little hours for coverage so who get stuck doing it allllll manager/management

Most stores are packed and racks are packed aisles maybe narrow

No security so u can imagine the saftey

Freight...watching for shoplifters... Watching Cashier... Paperwork... Keeping sales up and payroll low... 2 much 2 lil help

  • This will drag ur spirit down trust me i did it and u only. One or two days of a discount a month for the employees

Prices are cheaper then other stores

All the things that you have to do in a day with only 2 people

Suggestions for improvement

  • Employees should not only get one break for 35 minutes, pay more and hire more so employees aren’t burnt out. Don’t give full time hours on part time benefits not fair

What I like about the company

No experience was positive while working with this company. I have never worked a job so quick and left. Three weeks is a joke and I only stayed that long because I needed the money and it wasn’t even that much. I was supposed to be part time but they were constantly giving me between 34-38 hours no big deal if the work wasn’t ridiculous. Process 4 boxes of freight an hour and then make sure you recover the store. most times I’d recover the entire store alone vacuuming everything was on me. cashiering was worse. Cashier(alone), greet every single customer and check bags in with ticket if applicable, process freight and make sure your layaways are done too. this job would’ve been a little better if they didn’t want so much for so little pay and absolutely zero benefits no job security nothing. My advice DONT WORK FOR THIS COMPANY
