Company Culture

Only focuses on one racial demographic.

Support from management

Personally my boss was great and always looked out for his team. With my boss I always had support on projects and deadlines.

Teamwork

Team work on my team was very good. Other teams push as much of their work as they can on others especially Human Resources who uses all that free time for Youtube.

Freedom to work independently

Yea you do work independently because of the amount of additional work that hits you out of the blue...you have no time to grab coffee or chit chat casually for 5 minutes with co-workers.

Internal Communication

Everyone pretty much communicates well but a lot of upper management communicates as if you are a peasant.

Gender Equality

Attractive women definitely make it further than others

Career Development

Put in 5 years of hard work (still am) and always get denied for pay increase despite improving my skills each year with certifications.

Overall compensation for your work

Don't bother looking for any help.... I had to work weekends that involved me using half tank of gas and paid parking for over 60$+ at multiple lots in one day.... Guess what the response was for compensation "You needed to work so that's your problem"

Office / Work Environment

This is a new space that was designed for the bank... Taking 2 stars off because every single corner of this bank is brand new except the 5 bathrooms. Here is where costs where cut.. the toilets are very disgusting and rusty, the floors are the industrial always wet looking concrete flooring where human waste collects after each persons trip... most of the men drip on the floor which adds to the already nasty bathrooms. Also men and women share these there is no gender specific restroom.

Environmental Friendliness

I have met some amazing individuals here but 85% of the other employees smile to your face and act nice when they need something that benefits them. When you are no longer useful they will still smile but gossip about individuals around the office all day.

Work-Life Balance

None at all, as an employee I was forced to work numerous back to back weekends (still am) while not having time to get personal stuff done (Dentist, vision care, house chores, and quality time with family. Once you work here they will pile you with work and do not care about the time frame. Basically you get assigned other people's work even on top of your own and must complete all even though the time window is unrealistic...yet again they don't care.

Job Security

The new head of HR started as a temporary employee and rose to the top of HR in a couple of months replacing a woman who has been doing that job for 15 years. This new head of HR has absolutely no idea what she is doing and makes REALLY bad decisions everyday. She is in the process of firing everyone and hiring people who are not qualified. She is incompetent and has very little education and talks with a ghetto accent like she just stepped of the streets of Newark.

Many different races here... Not all of the races get as much promotions as some of the other races.

What I like about the company

I like somethings like the convenience of all the food spots and coffee spots in the area.

What I dislike about the company

I dislike the way Upper Management feels like they are on their high horse all the time, I dislike HR's new lady as does the whole company, I absolutely dislike how Upper Management talks to you as if you are swine and will ridicule and mock your work with words that cross the line of harassment ... also this company has no gratitude for all the hard work you do even if it was not your work in the first place.

Company Culture

Supervisors fail to commend employees on the great deal of effort put forth to meet deadlines. This creates the sense of being over worked and under appreciated.

Support from management

The HR department lacks the necessary training needed to resolve issues in the work place which causes major conflicts within the bank.

Teamwork

This is not a team environment like most offices.

Freedom to work independently

The workload isn't fairly distributed and in most cases people are forced to have a workload which requires at least 2 -3 people. This creates a large amount of stress amongst all employees.

Internal Communication

There is a very major lack of communication at this bank. In some situations employees are told projects are due the day they are assigned leaving very little time to complete projects in a timely matter.

Gender Equality

Not everyone has the same career opportunities as others. People with an extended background and experience have been pasted for promotions while other people with half the experience, education, and background have been promoted to roles that they didn't earn.

Attitude towards older colleagues

There is a lack of respect at this establishment especially for those who worked at the bank for a long period of time (15 years and more)

There is a lack for career development and there should be more of a presence.

Overall compensation for your work

This has always been an issue. The wages and salaries do not match the responsibilities and most importantly the bank doesn't pay satisfying salaries.

Office / Work Environment

The working conditions can be improved. In one case there was a BED BUG infestation which required the bank to close for extermination. No one informed the employees of the exact problem until after the situation was addressed. This wasn't helpful because some co-workers unfortunately brought that problem home with them causes more problems.

Environmental Friendliness

Not at all... the bank can use more resources to be brought up to speed as to what is going on in the community that they serve.

Work-Life Balance

This was a major issue at the bank. There have been many situations where vacation time was rejected due to lack of staff or there are certain rules that must be followed in order to take time off.

Job Security

Yes there is a risk for positions to be eliminated. Employees are in constant fear of loosing their job.

Handicapped Accessibility

No accessibility and tools and resources for the disabled is lacking.

Workplace Safety

No the working conditions do not comply with the OSHA standards and training to ensure that the bank is a accident-free environment is available.

Challenging Work

Employees complain about the lack of accomplishment felt when completing a project because the senior staff take the credit for the work being done or some employees are criticized for not doing enough..

Inclusive / Diverse

The bank does not promote diversity and when employees try to do this, they are penalized.

Suggestions for improvement

  • The bank could perform better if senior management structured differently. Also if there was more training and educational resources available the performance would improve.

What I like about the company

I liked the location of the bank since its located directly across the street from City Hall. City Hall is where the Mayor of Newark's office is located.

What I dislike about the company

The believe senior management can use training on how to run a retail bank properly especially the current President of the bank.
