- City of Detroit (MAIN OFFICE) (Detroit, MI / United States)24.Nov 2015
Support from management
After the Bankruptcy, the City is consolidating some departments and expanding others.
Ideas can come from anywhere or anyone, but if it makes sense forget it.
Nepitism and cronism has plagued the city for years. People often placed in positions they are unqualified for, e.g., an Economist placed over a Financial Accounting Unit.
Office / Work Environment
Currently one city department is in 5 areas of the city, when it used to be in only 2.
Curently some employees are training contractors, who are being paid in some instances 3 times as much and are doing less work.
Some facilities that employees work in are more than 30 years old.
What I like about the company
Detroit has great core of people and the city sometimes gets a bad rap, but like most jobs the good comes with the bad.
What I dislike about the company
The nepitism and cronism that has plagued Detroit for years needs to end. Literally every person seems to think that Detroit Employees can't read, can' t comprehend and are incapable of a thought process. The management mentality has to change for starters.
