Suggestions for improvement

  • They could take into consideration travel time for employees, offer more tuition reimbursement or children's tuition reimbursement benefits.

What I like about the company

They value our opinions, take the time to listen to suggestions, and treat everyone fairly.

What I dislike about the company

I do not think they consider the travel time of many employees who live outside the immediate area when it comes to hazardous driving conditions.

Suggestions for improvement

  • with so many employees that enjoy working call duty,it should be a sign up sheet a year in advance so we can have happy employees not upset ones.If there are to be major changes that affect us we should have an open discussion with the director on site to listen to our concerns,not just have them dropped on us out of the blue.we should poll our employees who has been with the org. over 5 years and get feedback from them on a yearly basis.The job requirements need to be re-evaluated as to not have the standards so high that nobody will apply for them because if you do and you fail to obtain what you need in 6 months you are terminated..instead of being demoted to where you once were.employees are afraid to apply for higher positions for a fear losing their jobs..it is a scare tactic by the current adminstration to stop minorities from applying for jobs that pay more.

What I like about the company

being able to communicate throughout the division is something i like.Being able to meet people in the public is another thing i enjoy.i get to observe people from many different cultures.I have always loved the way human resources interact with non management employees.they listen and are fair when it come to employee affairs.We have an outstanding communications system.Our director gets involved with his deparment on a regular basis.Not just meetings but he listens to any problems we may have.the same for our city manager who gets involved with general employees.

What I dislike about the company

I currently dissaprove of the way the make major changes to the division without feedback from the employees.(especially the seasoned veterans)who have been around for years.I disapprove of the mandatory overtime work that is required.It should be optional not forced upon the people.I disapprove of supervisors being placed in top positions without any field experience.regardless of the degrees or certifications they possess,any supervisor should be able to do any work that theiwork group employees can do.It's like a doctor who can perform open heart surgury but cant give a shot with a needle because he doesnt know how.

  • There should be a neutral party to go to if you are having problems with your job that can resolve issues without backlash.

What I like about the company

if you are out of site they don't bother you.

What I dislike about the company

Too much "political" BS goes on. There are a lot of GOOD OLE BOYS in this department and if you are not in the clique you won't get anywhere.
