Good Luck

2.17

Freedom to work independently

If you are a male, they abuse you. Minority employees are not forced to help.

Internal Communication

Was hired part time, they were aware I was a retiree from CALPERS, suddenly with no cause I was terminated as they said CALPERS retirees can't work for them.

Inclusive / Diverse

If you're a male employee the use you for muscle. One particular female minority was never made to help out, it was at her will.

Suggestions for improvement

  • Screen your applicants better.

What I like about the company

My immediate boss was super, a job to work with.

What I dislike about the company

The way I was released. Just come in, was informed you can't work here, give us your keys and get out. Cold.........and told I could not return to the location.

Caution

2.17

Teamwork

Immediate supervisor was great but the next level up, poor leadership, abused male employees, was afraid to tell one employee to help out. This was noted by other individuals.

Freedom to work independently

Work load was favored for one employee, 2nd in command would draft from other locations to assist while he had employee there who would not assist.

Attitude towards older colleagues

Senior workers terminated not asked to resign when retirement issues arose. Seniors asked to do custodial work and manual labor.

Overall compensation for your work

Pay was minimum wage, work was more than minimum wage type of work.

Work-Life Balance

Employees mandated to work weekends, when sufficient personnel were available with proper scheduling.

Job Security

Because I had a retirement from the same retirement system I was terminated, not asked to resign, yet they knew this when I was hired.

Workplace Safety

My supervisor did her best. She was great but the City did not give training on how to handle transients, no active shooter training etc.

Suggestions for improvement

  • Review all applications better, post proper requirements, have an exit interview and give a chance for resignation if possible. Also, don't abuse the old folk and just because they're guys don't use them for labor. If I had been given a chance to talk to HR I would have told them many things that shouldn't be done.

What I like about the company

My experience was poor, I'm sure others will have a good one.

What I dislike about the company

I was hired knowing I was a retiree from the same system the City uses, they knew this going in. I worked four months and was terminated because of the aforementioned retirement issue. There was no chance to resign, they terminated me with little explanation. In addition to this I was banned from the work site when I had done nothing wrong.
