Beware there is a mandatory retirement plan that is a 6.5% deduction. You have no control on the investment, it takes 30 years to equate to half your pay and has a 10 year vestment. This is never disclosed in the city's hiring process. I learned at the end of my first pay period on my paycheck. Insurance is very expensive for family coverage. They are self insured for health as an HMO managed by a third party. Beware a pre approved procedure may not be covered. Cost me big money.
