Support from management
management as a whole was very disorganized and lacking in support for its employees.
very rarely where people willing to work with you with the exception of a few individuals most people where just looking for a reason to brag to say it was their idea or they where the reason something worked
a very big lack of communication between anyone but the lower level employees
Overall compensation for your work
pay is about average for public works and benefits are very good.
pro- lots of time off when you want it.
con- city expects you to drop everything when they call. also the planned overtime was never very well planned.
easy to keep your job if you don't mess up and fly under the radar. the moment you speak up and voice your thoughts its a strike against you.
very unsafe workplace. would rather rush to get things done half ass so they are done than take the time to do it right the first time and do it safe
work was very easy
Suggestions for improvement
- safety should be a top concern. communication is lacking very much and there needs to be an open line to speak about concerns without the worry of retribution.
What I like about the company
nothing much. all the perks come by way of the union contract. if a contract wasn't in place most of the perks would not be there.
What I dislike about the company
it was very fake environment such as safety was talked about and said to be top priority but once you get to a job or away from the higher ups safety was one of the last thoughts. this is just an example of how things worked at the city or just the tip of the ice burg.
