Suggestions for improvement
- Implement cross-training or adding new employees to transfer some duties of certain positions. Too many crucial duties rely on just one individual in several areas, so if the employee were no longer able to work, the City could be in peril as many errors will be made in attempting to cover the absent employee.
What I like about the company
My employer provides a generous pension and the assignments keep the workdays interesting. They also contribute a percentage to my 457 account and pay a portion of my medical premiums both as an active employee through retirement. My current supervisor allows flex work hours as an added bonus. Pre-tax deductions are offered for both flex spending and dependent care programs. An on-site gym is offered for a nominal deduction from participating employees' paychecks. Vacation & sick leave accruals are offered along with paid holidays.
What I dislike about the company
Substantial bonuses to favored employees - especially for a non-profit government agency; Not keeping up with fair total compensation compared to the rest of the region.
