The culture was one in which you were given the tools you needed to do your job, and then you were trusted to use your skill set and experience to get the job done. It is the best way to challenge yourself and showcase your strengths.
Support from management
In my position, as a Project Manager, I worked very closely with our "client" and took direction from that client. They were very clear in what their expectations were and I would report "up" as to how the contract was going. We consistently met, or exceeded our goals.
All other departments were ready to help with anything needed.
Freedom to work independently
I was always expected and encouraged to work independently.
Office / Work Environment
The offices we had to work in were beautiful. Well equipped, clean and comfortable.
We did recycle paper products.
As a salaried employee, there were weeks that were extremely busy, especially in the first phase of the new contracts, but eventually time management relative to work/life balance became much easier. The company was flexible as far as time off.
There were never issues that were safety related in my department.
The challenge of the job was the best part. Our teams were small, compared to other companies who did the same work, but the employees were so well trained and so dedicated to their jobs that it was easy to recognize every individuals contribution. I was very proud of the work my teams accomplished, as well as how well run the other departments were throughout the company.
Inclusive / Diverse
The owner was always open to hearing new ideas and willing to explore other opportunities.
