Suggestions for improvement
- More communication and provide more information to employees. ( concerning procedures, resources, plans, etc.). Reward the workers who do more/better work. ( bonuses, raises, recognition, etc.). Pay close attention to what really takes place in each department. Numbers alone will not accurately depict how the work is being done, or by whom. For example, in a 2 person production department a log may be kept to track production of "widgets," and each employee routinely produces ten a day. Say perhaps, in advance of visitors to the plant a thorough cleaning is mandated, but production mustn't cease. So one employee continues with normal production while the other is directed to clean. The employee who is chosen to clean may be working harder and more efficiently than the other employee, but at the end of the day he has nothing to show for it in the department log. Allow employees an opportunity to learn and advance. Choose those employees wisely, based on performance and merit.
