What I dislike about the company

The individual work spaces do not foster productivity. I have a shared office that houses 7 people and offers no privacy for patient phone calls and leads to frequent interruptions. I do not have a dedicated area to meet with patients which is a required

Suggestions for improvement

  • The health plan and the organization as a whole need to focus more on strides towards healthy behavior and less on the number on the scale. Stop parading people in front on cameras talking about how much weight they've lost. It may be motivating for some, but it can be a hindrance for others if they don't measure up. Try celebrating small personal health achievements like breaking a personal best at the gym or learning to cook, or how many total steps the employees took in a month. Stop measuring a health plan member's success on a BMI chart, and start allowing members to set goals with their personal physician. You have no idea how soul crushing it is to watch co-workers get articles written about how much weight they've lost while you're struggling in recovery from an eating disorder and haven't stopped gaining weight.

What I like about the company

Managers are supportive. They help you work toward personal goals and advancement. Company really tries to create a team atmosphere. Flexible work hours are available when possible. Definitely a culture of diversity. EQ and cultural sensitivity training is required on a regular basis. Benefits are, for the most part, excellent. There are a few nice employee discounts for things like cell phone plans, theater and sporting event tickets, car rental and hotel rates, employee rates and perks for local housing.

What I dislike about the company

Employee health plan pushes weight loss very hard. It can be overwhelming, especially for people with chronic illness or a history of eating disorders that makes weight loss difficult. It also makes those employees who are overweight feel unwelcome. It is voluntary, but there is a lot of pressure to participate.

Suggestions for improvement

  • Less upper management, more support staff. Very top heavy there and all the money into those salaries instead of where it needed to be with support staff. Need to listen to support staff when it comes to work flow, although some areas did in fact have a voice while many didn't.

What I like about the company

I was able to move up from Sys Admin I to Sys Admin III before I had left. Worked there for 10 years until they decided to outsource my job. Lots of diversity, you get to meet and work with people from all over the world. Lots of ideas and innovations. Very unique place on Main Campus, it is it's own world.

What I dislike about the company

Upper management in my dept rarely listened to ideas. Doctors and Surgeons thinking that they are God and some would disrespect you and others. When I started there, some people were without computers and my colleagues would at times have to find their own offices.
