- CNA, The Maples at HarBer Meadows17.Mar 2016
We usually only heard from our supervisors if something was wrong, not to be praised. Some employees were treated better while others were chastised or fired for the same mistake.
Support from management
Attempting to follow our chain of commands wasn't an easy feat. Problems arose frequently , solutions did not. Management wasn't very active in our day to day and rarely asked for feedback.
There was a lack of communication between employees and management.
Freedom to work independently
It was up to you to make sure everything was done, including your partners work too.
I had to ask for my own yearly review sheet. I never heard of my results or discussed my progress.
Office / Work Environment
The majority of staff have a difficult time navigating through the computer system that was quite flawed most of the time.
I don't believe this is a concern of theirs.
There are 3 shifts a day. The only "normal" working schedule you could work is 7a-3p. Because that is the most wanted shift, it's not always easy to obtain. When coworkers called in, some were bribed with cash to stay and work another shift or at least a few hours of it. Some of us were not offered the money, but were still asked to stay on many occasions and did for the benefit of our residents.
Completely. Being a CNA is one of the most mentally exhausting and physically draining jobs I've ever done, but it's also the most rewarding. To put quality into another persons life is priceless.
Suggestions for improvement
- I suggest that the company makes sure to commend their employees. It makes for a better work environment with motivated people who feel appreciated.
What I like about the company
I liked participating in activities with my coworkers and residents.
What I dislike about the company
I dislike the fact that residents who didn't have family members frequent, didn't get to spend much, or any, time outside.
