Company Culture

Lack of ethical leaders makes for low morale. Poorly thought out, spontaneous reactions by the director leads to lack of trust by those in his department.

Support from management

There should be a negative star rating for this! Management lacks ethics, integrity and honesty in all departments! Some employees are forced to work while on vacation because management refuses to offer support. Management has a real problem with telling the truth and most if not all lack the ability to keep their word. Stellar annual reviews rarely lead to increases in wages and at times are wiped away a week later when an upper management person has a bad day and needs to take it out on the employees. (Happens far too often)

Teamwork

Departments fail to work together which causes massive confusion among all of the employees. Some of the shop foremen fail to step up when short handed, refuse to be team players.

Freedom to work independently

There really is no area for independent work as most of the underlings must do multiple jobs just to get the work done. Most of the work requires many hands to accomplish unfortunately, management refuses to hire the people who could ease the burden on the overworked.

Internal Communication

Communication is poor at best. Most of the so called leaders lie more than tell the truth. Promises made are rarely kept. Communication failures from the owners down through the management make the environment very distrusting and cause the employees to be weary of the so called leaders.

Attitude towards older colleagues

Knowledge and experience has little impact on the young managers.

Career Development

Non existent as the management wants nobody to move up.

Overall compensation for your work

Failure to give increases even with stellar annual reviews makes for very low morale and major distrust for the owners and directors. Company expansion is the priority over increasing the labor force to lower the burden on the technicians in the service department yet, management refuses to increase the pay of the good techs. Planting more trees and letting the established trees wither is the mantra. Fairness in pay most certainly does not apply as some technicians make more than others yet refuse to work harder than the lower paid. One shop foreman makes the most of the crew yet refused multiple times to work when needed because of being shorthanded. This individual should have been fired, yet he remains and continues to refuse to work overtime or help in the field when needed.

Office / Work Environment

If you like long hours and low pay, this is the place for you.

Work-Life Balance

Work em till they quit seems to be the mantra. Salaried employees have very little personal life especially those on the service side. Lack of support from the higher ups makes for very long days for no pay or recognition.

Company Image

The owners seem to believe their own press yet the customers seem to have a different opinion as do many of the employees.

Job Security

There is no job security. One week you may get the best ratings on an annual review, the following week be put on notice for asking for a raise.

Workplace Safety

This is somewhat misleading as part of the companies service is to work with equipment that has been in raw sewage. Technicians are required to spend time in sewage pits.

Challenging Work

One challenge is how to walk on the egg shells around the director who has a chip on his shoulder. Another is trying to make ends meet at home for many of the technicians who are very under paid.

Suggestions for improvement

  • For starters, working as a team must be everyone's priority and anyone who refuses should be terminated! Integrity within the management needs to be mandatory as well as the ability to communicate honestly and thoroughly to their people, if this cannot be accomplished they should not be in that position. Employees need to be able to trust management and feel good about being an employee. The poor morale is caused from the top down and stems from trust issues.

What I like about the company

Unfortunately, there was little to like about the company because anything good was overshadowed by the poor communication and lack of integrity of the upper management.
