Suggestions for improvement
- The most difficult thing about working at these theaters is that most of the employees are looking for an easy job (which this is) so there are a lot of unmotivated individuals working here. This leaves a lot of extra work for anyone who does do their job well, at no extra pay. Allowing managers to give their employees financial incentives for working harder would make this a vastly more rewarding job and may even motivate the lazier workers to try just a little bit harder.
What I like about the company
As a first job, this is awesome. The training is fairly easy but can be translated to many other customer service jobs. Hard work is often rewarded with extra hours and fun bonuses like free candy, movie posters, and other branded merchandise. We all enjoy the perks of getting free popcorn, soda, and movies as well as screening movies before their premier dates. Management is always fair and willing to help anyone that needs it. The hours are very flexible, particularly when being scheduled around school hours. Overall, this is an awesome part-time job for anyone just out of high-school and/or currently in college.
What I dislike about the company
For anyone not going to school, this job doesn't supply enough regular hours. Some weeks you will work 30 hours, and others you might only get 10. This isn't the company's fault, as our business will be busy or slow based on the movies being released and the season you're working in. You are almost guaranteed to work on Christmas, as this is one of the busiest days at the theater, hands down. For anyone trying to make living wages, this job is not adequate and will require additional income of some sort to be able to pay your bills. There is also not any benefits available unless you work fulltime, and fulltime hours are largely reserved for the few assistant managers.
