Suggestions for improvement
- There are a couple of people in positions of power that need to step down or lead without ego. Others in the organization should be able to speak up and challenge the process without their ideas being taken as a personal attack. Our HR process needs to be thoroughly re-written. People in leadership roles with direct staff contact need assistance to make their jobs manageable. We need to let go of staff (at all levels) who are unable or unwilling to accept that change and growth are part of getting better and going "from good to great".
What I like about the company
As a teacher, I had agency to run my classroom as desired (within federal mandates) and had constant support. We now compensate very fairly (comparable to the school system) and have great benefits. I love my co-workers and admire them. I've had the opportunity to advance and receive additional training and professional development.
What I dislike about the company
In the leadership position I've taken on, work-life balance is nearly impossible to achieve. Our job descriptions encompass the work of two people, and we're often asked to take on more than what is included in our job descriptions. Leadership gives lip service to wanting input, but if you challenge the process, you are often targeted for speaking up. It's a very stressful role, and the burnout rate is extremely high. At least 1/3 of my team is actively seeking other jobs, and we're too afraid to share our discontent for fear of reprisal.
