Company Culture

I think the overall culture in my certain healthcare area is positive we deal with various kinds of people and the workforce really has to be made up of all backgrounds and ethnicities which I think we have

Teamwork

Yes this absolutely happens

Freedom to work independently

Yes we are a team but we do work independently and I have all the trust in my coworkers and their patient care

Internal Communication

I think communication can improve as far as making sure we are motivated and helping us look at how we are making an impact everyday whether it’s just stories we hear it’ll help with a sense of motivation day to day in the workplace.

Gender Equality

The one thing I have an issue with are male doctors that do not treat women fairly which is super disappointing and dishesrtening ad a nurse

Attitude towards older colleagues

I have mixed feeling about this because nursing practice is always being updated and improved and some but very few do not take an initiative to update their own practice.

Career Development

Growth opportunities is a huge one and it was lacking tremendously. No really motivation for growth and it was more so frowned upon

Office / Work Environment

Healthcare in general and the hospital can improve on providing a comfortable workplace. Especially for family members of patients

Work-Life Balance

Work life balance is hard to obtain when you work so many hours

Company Image

Yes I was but moving on needs to happen and a change

Workplace Safety

Safety is number one!

Challenging Work

My work as a public health nurse is very challenging. Not because of the place I work for but because my job involves taking care of people healths

Inclusive / Diverse

Diversity is huge due to the mass amount healthcare brings in

Suggestions for improvement

  • Create a program and make it known to all nurses that you can go back to school or start a research grant especially for that population of patients

What I like about the company

It’s was my beginning job as a nurse and I am great full for the new and learned experiences. I think that I enjoyed working here and I would recommend it the coworkers are trustworthy and are willing to help you.

What I dislike about the company

Their is no room for growth. The management side should continue to promote nurse going to obtain higher degrees and researching improved practice but their was no option like that

Company Culture

A relatively good mix of folks, though it reminds me of high school with set cliques

Support from management

To the most extent

Teamwork

Leadership doesn't really interact with employees in this way

Freedom to work independently

You are not micromanaged, but the top performers pick up the slack for the underperformers

Internal Communication

It depends on the group you are in.

Gender Equality

Better than most companies

Attitude towards older colleagues

There are a lot of older workers in our department as a whole

Career Development

Low chances for advancement as people stay here forever

Office / Work Environment

Building is always freezing and not very clean.

Environmental Friendliness

No recycle bins in cubes. One can collector in break room and paper collector in copy room

Work-Life Balance

Expect to work long hours if you want to get everything done. Evening, overnight and weekend work expected. On-call

Handicapped Accessibility

Has the standard amenities

Workplace Safety

Office job so pretty safe

Challenging Work

Easy enough work but too much of it and pressure to always do more with less

Inclusive / Diverse

Not much diversity our workplace when it comes to race. Definitely would be harder for someone to fit in if not a older (30+) white male.

Suggestions for improvement

  • I would streamline the change control process by making the document easier to use and fill out. Time logging is difficult to do in IT, multi-tasking is always going on, so hard to log time for various projects and quick task. They are redesigning various offices to an open space concept for better collaboration. I think for some groups this will be positive, but for other groups this may be a hindrance. I would have an option for those who are more productive, but need a quiet environment to focus. I would offer employees the opportunity to job share to allow for cross-training across disciplines and increase opportunities for advancement.

What I like about the company

Executive leadership truly seems to care about the company and making a difference in patient lives. Our company's motto is Patient Care, Simply Delivered and most decisions take that into account. Volunteering and giving back is also encouraged. Company events such as Healthcare Week in May recognizes the employees for what they bring to the company.

What I dislike about the company

Middle management has been the same since I have worked there. Usually in IT, managers leave regularly. Not here. This leads to stagnant, "this worked in the past" attitudes so not much change. No opportunities for growth if no one leaves. People who don't agree with management don't last long, so many adopt the follow the crowd attitude. Lots of processes and time management documentation make working efficiently difficult as change controls to fill out and get approved before doing any work and log your time. A 2 minute task can take easily 15-20 due to the extra documentation.
