Too many employee's are young and in perhaps their 1st employment situation and have never learned to be responsible and do their assigned work! The young employee' s do not finish or even complete their work in a timely manner!
Support from management
Upper management sets unreasonable goals and says make it work!
Teamwork means that the head of the residential house and a few committed workers do most of the work! The rest of the staff are slackers that leave work they are assigned to do for the next staff person in the next shift to do or finish!
Freedom to work independently
There is ample freedom to work independently, but you have to be a mind reader of upper management! The work done has to meet assigned goals which if done correctly upper management gets the benefit of!
It is the old story, management has no idea what really goes on in a day to day situation in the residential houses! Management has no idea what is going on in the houses because management never worked on a day to day level in the houses!
If you make it through the vetting process there is work for anyone!
Attitude towards older colleagues
The young workers think they know how the job should be done, but they have only book learning or have never done the job before!
There is not much chance for individual growth to a higher position in the company! There is too much favoritism in the upper management! Each year to keep your individual position you must have 24 hours of outside job related education!
Overall compensation for your work
Company compensation is low, a little better than flipping burgers at a fast food restaurant!
Office / Work Environment
The company has a thrifty attitude, if it can be done for less, let's do it that way!
The residential house's have lights on, fans on, TV's on 24/7/365 even when the residents are sleeping or not in the house!
There is no work life balance unless you are upper management! Staff members do not show up for their shifts and the work schedule is all but unworkable! Staff members will not work nights, holidays, weekends, in emergency call offs and etc!
The company is a nationally known company in the growing sector of the handicapped residential market!
There is no job security! There is company health insurance, but no other real timely benefits! Make a big enough mistake or offend the wrong person and you are out the door!
For a company based on helping the handicapped, they could do better!There is a budget, and all the houses and clients have to be served! Some requests have to wait month's or year's to be full filled!
The general environment is safe, but you are dealing with a handicapped person who has specific needs to be addressed usually right now!
The work is challenging! The work has federal and state mandates to be followed! There are suggestions on how to get the work done on the individual level but the same idea or suggestion seldom works twice! Experience is the best teacher in this situation!

The workforce is mainly young with little or no real world work experience! The average employee age is mid 20's to late 40's or early 50's!
