Suggestions for improvement

  • A stronger practice in personal placement for management rather than favorable candidates would be the biggest one. As for rest it’s pending on location of contract and expectations of the clients. I’m only privilege to the knowledge of my location until I make full management position where I can obtain a better understanding of the company’s actual practices

What I like about the company

As my GM assistant I have easy access to all available resources he does with minor limitations such as the final say of a project or access to only my GM is privilege to. I have a functional and flexible staff that strives to make an impression on our clients. I have full support and encouragement from my management staff as well as an advisement status. I have liaison privileges with our contract client. I also have approval to aide other location in training or support upon request if necessary. And my advancement in the company is looking extremely fruitful

What I dislike about the company

There are known yet unspoken practice of favoritism within our ranks that reduces the chances of more suitable prospects to management positions. Depending on the location some untraditional practices occur, some location are lacking support from the main company because they don’t prove as beneficial as others. Some individuals acquire management status with very little suitably. Some location are overwhelming under supported but high demanding as well as other location clients prove to be more difficult than others

Company Culture

There are more internal politics with this company than any job in Washington D.C.

Freedom to work independently

Follow the programs or else. There is no freedom as you are told what to prepare, when to fix it and where to buy it from. Force ships are sent out whether you need it or not so that purchasing company can get their kickbacks. They at least had the decency to drop their mantra of treating your account as your own business.

Career Development

If they like you then they will do all they can to advance you. I have also seen several people over the years promised things only to jump through all the hoops and have that promise broken. Again, the internal politics in this company can make it difficult to navigate your career.

Office / Work Environment

Toxic

Environmental Friendliness

Only matters when it matters to the client you are working for. Otherwise, not really.

Work-Life Balance

They talk a good game but certainly don't believe a word they say. I had to give up vacation time every year because they "couldn't cover it". Did me no good to keep earning vacation time when I could never use any of it. Not to mention that they could care less if you work 65-70 hours per week. Often did work from home at night and on the weekends just to keep up.

Job Security

You're as secure as the contract you work under. If client drops it you're out too. Often subject to the whims of client and sometimes regardless of performance can be forced out due to personality differences. Worked for 4 different DM in 3 years. Each time there is a change there is also more politics as you try to adapt to the change in leadership.

Workplace Safety

They are very aware and concerned with safety almost to the point of going too far the other way.

What I like about the company

The schedule was M-F with most major holidays off. That was nice for family time.

What I dislike about the company

The internal politics has become almost unbearable. This company is top heavy with management that don't contribute to the success of the operations at the local level. Managers are really not managing anything any more but instead are coordinators that make sure the money gets to the bank. Not much respect given to managers who are working daily to take care of the customers not because of leadership but in spite of it.

Company Culture

You will get treated completely different if you are not a "FTE" as they call them. Full time employee. Temps are looked down on because they know that you will be gone soon.

Support from management

Not if you are a temp.

Freedom to work independently

worked from home 1 day a week

Internal Communication

not much communication between employees.

Attitude towards older colleagues

Almost like a cult. If you work for the company everyone talks to you but if your a temp you get ignored. No matter how good of a job you are doing. My boss took all the credit for what I was doing. Very annoying.

Overall compensation for your work

didn't even get a raise after being there almost 1.5 yrs. They love to pat you on the back and say "good job," but that's all your going to get.

Office / Work Environment

cubicles

Environmental Friendliness

once again, not if you are a temp. you will be looked at and treated differently. They would go to lunch and never ask the temps to go with them.

Work-Life Balance

I had to put in OT many nights and never turned it in trying to impress the superiors to no avail.

Job Security

no security as a temp.

Challenging Work

I loved the job and the work I was given. I just wish they would have respected what I did but they did not seem to care.

Suggestions for improvement

  • Stop treating the temps like crap. My boss never did a thing except play candy crush on his phone. That was very annoying.

What I like about the company

Very laid back and I was very happy with my job until I asked for a raise and was let go.

What I dislike about the company

It's very corporate. One wrong move and you are gone as a temp employee. Do not try to impress anyone by going above and beyond because you will not get the credit that you deserve. I improved the department I was in tremendously, figured out things that they had no idea the software was even capable of doing and then I was fired for asking for a raise. Very frustrating.
