What I like

In my personal experience with Cone health, Ive enjoyed working with my team of nurses and they value teamwork, which is extremely important in the environment we work in. I love being able to self schedule so I can pick and choose when I work and enjoy time with my family. Any colleagues I’ve run into from other departments are always pleasant.

What I dislike

I hope the company increases the minimum wage to compete with other hospitals- the extra income would be great. Working short staffed is a challenge sometimes, but my team makes the most out of any situation we’re dealt, and we get the job done while keeping patients safe.

Suggestions for improvement

Competitive wages for the nurse techs. I’m pretty satisfied with the culture and environment. Policies are up to date and reasonable.

COVID 19

Company Image

I have absolutely no respect for Cone Health anymore. During the COVID 19 pandemic employees are temporarily laid off or hours are reduced by management and then Cone Health interferes with these employees receiving any type of benefits. This is done in effort to keep unemployment insurance cost low for the hospital system. They could care less about the employees.

My time at Moses Cone was wonderful, till the last 3-4 years. There was a change of management in my department.

Former EmployeeWorked at Cone Health System in Greensboro, NC.

What I like

The insurance was good. Pay is better than most in the area for my job.

What I dislike

Leadership is placed thinks too highly of themselves. The “ICare” initiative,Which is great for the INTENDED purpose, was welded into a disciplinary weapon when needed. Anything that was management decided THEY did not approve of (no matter what the policy was) that was the excuse this is not in line with ICARE. ICARE was welded in to what management wanted it to be and what fit their motives. Tenure doesn’t play into their factors for advancement like it used to years ago. This has not affected me but I have seen this. Positions seem to be created for the intended applicant? A position for a SYSTEMWIDE HEAD of a division was placed with only a bachelors as the requirement. The person who took that position that’s what they had. The position they left (and then presided over) was listed as a masters being required for the applicants. The applicant who filled the position indeed had a MHA. Both of these were in house hires. I have noticed applicants being hired from outside since perhaps this why?

Suggestions for improvement

Entertain your employees ideas as they are shrugged off now. If they won’t work tell the person why otherwise they just assume you’re ignoring them. If a department is happy production and patients are happy leave them ALONE. Not everything needs to be fixed.

Overall compensation for your work

My pay was never the problem.

Inclusive / Diverse

If it’s not management’s idea it not considered, this for Main Campus Moses Cone

What I like

I have worked for this employer for the past five years and it had been a great work experience compared to former employers.

What I dislike

The pay is less than some of the surrounding hospitals.

Suggestions for improvement

More pay for the staff that provide hands of care to the patients and focus on staff retention instead of hiring bonuses.
