Teamwork

The team occurs despite upper management

Attitude towards older colleagues

The only way you survive this company is through cooperation amongst your team. Upper mgt, Director and above, do not trust the workers.

Career Development

poor at best

Overall compensation for your work

Poor. Upper Mgt gets pay raises and big bonuses. How they get that is to screw the worker and first line mgt.

Office / Work Environment

Upper Mgt doesn't support the worker. Very Poor work environment

Work-Life Balance

The company will not pay for OT and expect the supervisors to work for free, while the union worker makes more money than the supervisor.

Company Image

Externally they look great. Internally it is a postal worker waiting to explode. Seriously!

Job Security

Non existent. Upper Mgt blames the worker for poor policy and bad management decisions

Workplace Safety

The worker is not trained at the ability that would require them to do their job well. They recently brought tools into the company that were an older generation of EDS, outage Mgt tool which simply handicapped the worker. Upper Mgt makes decisions in a vacuum which handcuffs middle and first line mgt.

Challenging Work

The work is very challenging especially when the tools don't work.

Suggestions for improvement

  • In terms of the Distribution Operations Center, the company needs to remove the VP and possibly the Director. Very good qualified employees are leaving in droves or looking for elsewhere to work. They will soon face a work force that is inexperienced and quite frankly in this industry leads to Safety issues, Serious injury and loss of life. But hey the worker's only a number and is expendable.

What I like about the company

In CL&Ps prior life, they were a great company to work for and you were proud to say I worked for them. You looked for ways to help the customer, field workers and fellow employees. As of late, you do your job and get out because the Director and VP are simply idiots and are looking to flex their muscles in anyway.

What I dislike about the company

The VP of Distribution is an idiot. Has no experience and makes decisions in a vacuum. Unfortunately, the Director is influenced by the VP and follows suit. We used to come to work and look forward getting to the camaraderie in working as a team to get the work done in best of class. Upper Mgt has changed that and doesn't trust First line to do their job nor the worker to solve outages as SAFE and fast as possible. Upper mgt also chose to go with a vendor for Troubleshooting which has not worked well. Having dedicated CL&P Troubleshooters was much better and more productive. Contractors change form night to night and new ones arrive all the time with little to no experience. The company cares more about squeezing a penny out of the company as their motto is if you can save a penny, it will eventually lead to a dollar, in spite of SAFETY. Its all about the dollar and they lack the vision to see if they would invest in the worker and are honest straight forward, the worker would be committed to their jobs.
