Support from management

Management does not care about the drivers'. Management's processes are as clear as mud. They love changing the game/rules to make them look good and the driver the scapegoat for customers ire.

Freedom to work independently

No. Dispatch and Middle management will micromanage you until you quit. As a driver you work by yourself but not alone or independently. There is a satellite communications platform in the truck that tells dispatch where you are and in essence "what" you are doing. In the right hands this device actually helps the driver's production, but not at this company.
