Challenging Work

It is definitely super challenging being required to pitch sales offers on every single call. If the customer declines the offer,you have to do your best to talk them into getting said offer by overcoming objections and/or you pitch another sales offer.. This is all while trying to actually perform customer service and helping the customer with an issue and reason for calling us in the first place. You have to also be aware of your time on the phone with each customer,as you have to have an AHT (Average Handle Time) at or below 11 minutes.

Suggestions for improvement

  • Stop focusing so much on sales and focus more on customer service, training classes should be longer because they are not nearly long enough to learn how to use all systems correctly and handle calls. Also the training systems need to be updated and more realistic;there were a lot of differences between the training and the real systems out on the production floor. It is confusing while learning in training on those systems and once out on the floor it's different.

What I like about the company

Commission for sales,opportunities to win gift cards and other items for sales,free DirecTV Service,21% discount for wireless service,PTO & UTO, benefits (medical,dental insurance coverage),my coworkers on my team are super helpful and we all help each other out when needed, my boss is great with helping out and supportive as well as understanding, I'm not treated like just another person or less than anyone there

What I dislike about the company

They push sales way too hard and expect you to continue to offer and talk customers into offers even after they have declined more than once... I think they have lost focus on customer service entirely and are way too wrapped up in sales sales sales! The focus should be back on the customer and the issue they are having and then it wouldn't hurt to offer to them. But,do not make it an absolute priority to keep offering after offering and "overcoming objections" to end up making the sale with an "assumptive close".

Support from management

All leadership cares about is a sale. They're all for themselves and they don't do their work. They don't fix points when they're supposed to and upper management tells them not to.

Overall compensation for your work

Your payroll check is the only thing that you can be sure of. No you are not fairly compensated for your work. You can't see what you sell they just show you what they want you to see. They tell you your orders cancel but they don't show you proof so you have to take what they choose to give you. They only pay you for certain sales and if it's not TV service and a certain amount you won't get fully compensated. If you lose your job before the bonus is paid out you don't get your payout but management does.

Office / Work Environment

The environment is pretty good other than half the time systems don't work. And they like to have fan on when its cold outside.

Yes there is recycling.

Work-Life Balance

There is really no work life balance. You have to fight for that. They throw in overtime when they want to and don't care how it affects your home life. If you have kids and may have to leave for an emergency they will threaten your job.

I was for the first 2 yrs then mgmt changed and made it more un pleasurable to work for the company.

Job Security

If you have perfect attendance and a whole lot of sales your job is secure. You can have perfect attendance but not selling what they want and they will for you.

Handicapped Accessibility

They have automatic doors and an elevator but there's no other option if there's ever a fire and elevator can't be used

Challenging Work

The work is very challenging. Customers call in for bill or account issues yet Convergys doesn't care if the issues are resolved they just want the sale. They even try to bribe the customers into a sale. "Well if you get TV service we'll give you $200 of your cell bill." Customer signed up, cancels order, and employee loses sale and commission. You can't see what you sale anymore therefore you get paid what they want to pay you.

  • Don't pick and choose who you want to work for you. Value your employees because fortunate, the agents are the ones making the business stand. Learn how to assist agents because management doesn't know how to sell or help with one.
