Support from management
They care about your wellbeing. Lots of support networks for employees in crisis.
Employees seem to work together as a collective, while management has their own cliques and favorites they roll with
Freedom to work independently
Few positions offer independent work. Most is directly supervised, either by an hourly sup or manager.
Memos seem to be distributed and acknowledged sparingly. Changes in policies aren't effectively communicated to front line employees
They recently implemented a plan on gender equality.
Attitude towards older colleagues
They usually require employees to be able to do all tasks in store (ie, I've seen elderly women asked to push carts in the rain)
Rothman workplace allows for feedback about performance, but I've never seen it effective in gaining promotions.
No recycling program in effect at corporate level. Plastic wrap and cardboard bales are about all we do.
Little to no scheduling flexibility. Open availability required to "meet the needs of the business"
Inclusive / Diverse
They attempt to have a diverse workforce, though scheduling inflexibility affects some people who may want to pursue a career here.
Suggestions for improvement
- Treat employees better across the board - require more training for supervisors.
