The moral was always down!! Family members of owners were able to come into the stores and speak to the employees any type of way.
Support from management
Too many owners, 5 to be exact. Everyone has their own idea of what makes the business successful but no one felt the need to put their heads together and make a plan. Everyone gave their directions which world often contradict what another owner previously stated.
As with any job there were cliques. Some people worked well together, others kept drama, issues, and gossip constantly circulating. Too many children hired in order to not pay experienced individuals their worth.
Freedom to work independently
The work load was NOT distributed evenly. You have some working all 3 stores making next to nothing, while others stay at one location making a minimum of $4 more. They spread the ones that work the hardest and are willing to work too thin.
A lot was learned through Corporate but not the owners of the franchise.
Wives of a few of the owners always had a problem with any females hired. Often talked down to the female employees causing them to quit.
Attitude towards older colleagues
One senior worker, the father in law of one of the owners that happened to be new to the country and didn't speak a bit of English. One example of the Nepotism that occurred.
There was NO room for advancement. Every time a position opened for upper management a family member was brought in to fill it. I can recall at least 3 times where someone was brought in, paid more, and needed to be trained by a current employee.
Overall compensation for your work
NO!! Not only well they pay you next to nothing BUT they will also alter your tax forms to put your dependants and exemptions to the max. Be careful, I have a pending investigation going on now.
Families ARE NOT taken into consideration. Only if you were one of the many owners or a good friend they looked at like family. There was a lot of nepotism within this company. Some like myself and one other alleged "managers" opened and closed a store 7 days a week. In 1 month we were in the stores MORE than the owners were in 6 months combined and that includes all the owners combined.
Your job is never safe or stable due to the owners constantly bringing their family members from their country over and giving them the positions in the stores. Expecting the current employees to train them.
I was extremely proud of all the work I completed while there.

What I dislike about the company
The fact that the owners of valuecomm decided to alter my tax forms at their own discretion with out my permission. Once i requested a copy of all forms I completed, I got the run around. A year later and I still don't have it.
