Company Culture

Working corrections was a job. Not the best, not the worst.

Support from management

Supervisors ie Sgts. Lts. Capts. is really lacking. These people have not interpersonal skills and they feel they are above everyone else, sad.

Teamwork

The Officers work as a team, they have to, their lives depend on it.

Freedom to work independently

It is just a crazy place to work. It is run by the inmates.

Internal Communication

Very poor, upper management wants to always play secret squirrel. It they would communicate with each other, would be a better place to work and it would make work safer.

Gender Equality

Horrible, the supervisors treat female officers with total disrespect.

Attitude towards older colleagues

Some what good, but if your advised by your doctor not to be out in the sun for a month, they will intentionally put you out in the sun.

Career Development

There is none, promoting is total favoritism, not who can do the job the best. Thus you end up with supervisors who should not have been promoted.

Overall compensation for your work

Middle of the road, the inmates cost the state as much as it pays the officers, what gives.

Office / Work Environment

The issues are not with the offenders, it is with the Supervision. Supervisors make working there miserable. No support what so ever. They only talk to you when something goes wrong. Never telling anyone when they do a good job. They just expect you to do all aspects of the job with little support.

Environmental Friendliness

They recycle everything and everything.

Work-Life Balance

They are more concerned with you being there. They don't care what is going on in your life, only theirs.

Company Image

State constantly does out of court settlements for sexual harrasment. Problem is the person doing the harassment, they state dosen't punish them at all.

Job Security

We are essential workers, have to be there all the time to make it work. Trouble is, lots of employees don't want to be there due to treatment, thus call in sick.

Handicapped Accessibility

Reasonable.

Workplace Safety

Not a safe place to work at all.

Challenging Work

You just have to know how to do everything.

Inclusive / Diverse

Male to female ratio way off. Very little diversity.

Suggestions for improvement

  • Support your officers, back them up. Stop playing games with officers, everyone needs to act Professionally. State needs to get it's head in the game. Stop allowing Supervisors to get away with harrasment of females and do nothing to the supervisor commiting the act.

What I like about the company

Only provides a job, supervision is really questionable. No support from management.

What I dislike about the company

Safety is poor, state trusts offenders more than officers, what kind of enviroment is that to work in.
