Company Culture

Not enough staff to take care of a HUGE number of people!

Support from management

Director is always behind closed doors and not accessible.

Teamwork

Great teamwork in individual teams!

Freedom to work independently

Lots of autonomy if you work in the community but not so much if office based.

Internal Communication

Everything is communicated via email. Valid because then everything is documented but not very personal.

Gender Equality

More women than men but that is standard in healthcare.

Attitude towards older colleagues

Respect for those with seniority.

Career Development

Not much room to move up.

Overall compensation for your work

Paid well.

Office / Work Environment

Office environment is pretty toxic.

Environmental Friendliness

Despite comment above people are friendly.

Work-Life Balance

Always expected to do more and more. Lots of people check work emails from home.

Company Image

Goid image in the community.

Job Security

Very secure in that there is a need. However everyone is always afraid of “getting in trouble.” Environment can be very punitive.

Handicapped Accessibility

Fully handicap accessible.

Workplace Safety

Very safe place to work at the office. Also conscious of not-so-safe environments in the community.

Challenging Work

Hospice is very challenging and can be emotionally draining.

Suggestions for improvement

  • Make executive director more accessible. Hiding behind closed door constantly makes people think she is uncaring about staff’s positions.

What I like about the company

They hire good people who share the same mission.

What I dislike about the company

Environment is too punitive and too much striving for perfection.

Company Image

I think it's the best hospice company in the area

Office was accessible but most work performed in private homes and accessiblity could be a problem

Workplace Safety

Required to make home visits regardless of weather

Challenging Work

There were often a lot of challenges to overcome in completing all work in the given time period

Inclusive / Diverse

Management was open to ideas

Suggestions for improvement

  • There needs to be better coordination between certain departments and shifts to minimize stress for all involved.

What I like about the company

Management recognized my dedication and work ethic, and ability to shine in my role.

What I dislike about the company

There was frequent turnover in key management positions, which meant having to prove myself and my abilities over and over to new people.
