Not enough staff to take care of a HUGE number of people!

Director is always behind closed doors and not accessible.

Lots of autonomy if you work in the community but not so much if office based.

Everything is communicated via email. Valid because then everything is documented but not very personal.

Office environment is pretty toxic.

Job Security

Very secure in that there is a need. However everyone is always afraid of “getting in trouble.” Environment can be very punitive.

Fully handicap accessible.

Very safe place to work at the office. Also conscious of not-so-safe environments in the community.

Challenging Work

Hospice is very challenging and can be emotionally draining.

Suggestions for improvement

  • Make executive director more accessible. Hiding behind closed door constantly makes people think she is uncaring about staff’s positions.

They hire good people who share the same mission.

Environment is too punitive and too much striving for perfection.

  • There needs to be better coordination between certain departments and shifts to minimize stress for all involved.

Management recognized my dedication and work ethic, and ability to shine in my role.

What I dislike about the company

There was frequent turnover in key management positions, which meant having to prove myself and my abilities over and over to new people.

I was told I made the other nurses look bad due to my commitment to patient service.

  • That they clean house of management who base their decisions on prejudice .

What I like about the company

Nothing, felt misled by their motto and branding. They totally misrepresent their service intentions and base it on monetary benefits.

What I dislike about the company

I dislike the fact and am quite abhorred that they falsely claim their intentions of a caring and compassionate company. The corporate part of the company totes this open door policy which is non existant. In essence they falsely advertise their services to their patients, on many accounts when I was in a home when a patient had died I was told to get out and leave. I find that behavior irrehensible.

Not openly accepted into the organization. Leadership is in need of education and new personnel to ensure fairness. Leadership is no longer objective.

Freedom to work independently

Autonomous in word only. Micromanaged on an hourly basis. Not respected as a clinician. Communication is done entirely thru Email. In a day, over 150 emails are received yet seldom read. This info communicated thru Assistant clinical director. Recommendations are perceived as attacks.

Talk in the company is related to individual achievements, not the team. When an ED states a nurse is the b best ever known, other nurses are left feeling disrespected.

Promises made and never mentioned again.

Office / Work Environment

Discussing personal issues. Limited boundaries in communication. Turmoil describes the office atmosphere best.

Environmental Friendliness

No EMR. I use at least 45 pages of paper daily. Even have daily handwritten time sheets.

Again in word only. Not in practice.

One the perimeter, yes. Deep down, knowing what know, no.

Job Security

Employees who have been with the company are safe. New personnel must blend in or be deemed a failure.

  • Bring in a new person to stay fresh and up to date. Please learn to value education.
