PR great, practicing what company preached did not happen in day to day ranks
Support from management
Conflicts of leadership planning future production/development
Teamwork increased in later years
Freedom to work independently
Independence granted but strings attached, example; if task a success_ someone up the ladder took credit and someone always looking to capitalize on you if desired results not achieved. So one always ready to take your place.
Good. Discussion on everything. Problem sometimes of over-discussing because of a few "achievers".
Attitude towards older colleagues
Overall compensation for your work
Yes but company attitude changing rapidly to "performance-based pay" and overall personal interaction being used to nullify promotion
Office / Work Environment
Physical ammenities excellent, coworker culture incouraged by company was " no holds barred" to get ahead
Very much so. In fact company policy was often used/abused by achievers to obtain personal goals
Crowley excellent here
Deteriorating not only because of wage/benefit cuts and the "performance-based wages but the union side of Crowley became nonexistent. Company business practices degraded and even made national news
First few years, yes then company attitude changed drastically_ especially on the union side. It was made clear by non-union management verbally, that the union needed to go away
PR again. Only places safety practiced was in high-visibility areas, remote sites and work not. Safety issues in office were often used for personal gain by individuals
Very challenging. Much of my work involved remote locations creating travel and logistics nightmare. Crowley has own travel company which is excellent
Inclusive / Diverse
Yes for the most part
Suggestions for improvement
- Executive-level changes to company safety, personnel and business practices
What I like about the company
Good pay, benefits receding but still above-average. Additional training encouraged, usually w/ financial help
What I dislike about the company
Encouragement of back-stabbing for personal gain, lack of real u nion support or representation. "Safety DOES have a price"(financially good for company PR/business procurement). They have outstanding, unscrupulous personnel and business practices.
