Suggestions for improvement
- End the referral program. Employees are given from $500 to $750 bonus for an employee they referred and was hired. Not only do I feel this is counter productive as in promoting nepotism or not interviewing the candidate as thoroughly as they might have. Further these bonuses could be put to far better uses. Definitely enforce and promote recycling. There are posters promoting it in all the break rooms, etc. As the employees separate out their trash from the desk and in the cafeteria, the maintenance crew refused to put them in separate containers. It is ALL thrown together and put in the trash. I've brought this up numerous times, to numerous managers, to no avail. (the maintenance crew was NOT happy with me even though it did not change.)
What I like about the company
They have very detailed training courses. They pay for all training and testing expenses to receive your Insurance License. These are skills you take with you even if you leave the company. AAA actually CARES about it's agents. There is support offered in nearly every area such as, dealing with a difficult client, coaching through perceived weaker points (as opposed to discipline), They absolutely DO NOT discriminate. We work together with all races, religions, ethnic backgrounds, political affiliations, transgender status, and much more. It is not done to "stay within the law" but because it's an honest principle and desire of the company. AAA also provides OUTSTANDING service and products. When an insured has a claim or question, the same agent will walk them through step by step. Even though we are an incoming call center, we are still free to give the insureds, that want it, your direct contact information to continue to help that customer personally. The company makes both the customer, and the employees understand that they are valued. Valued greatly. Thank you.
What I dislike about the company
Their failure to recycle. All of the equipment is already purchased and available, they just don't feel the time it takes to do it is productive. I disagree.
There is a fair amount of nepotism. The general manager gives a high supervisory position to her college roommate...whom has to complete the same training courses we do and has no insurance license. In the referral process for employment if you are referred by a current employee that person has over a 90% chance of being hired. Others about 30%. Many of these "automatic hires" don't pass the training academy or have even basic office, or people skills.
