Suggestions for improvement

  • I would continue to build relationships with underserved communities in order to learn more about how cancer develops.

What I like about the company

The positive aspects of working for DFCI have been that I get to contribute to meaningful scientific research that will have direct impact on patient lives. I work in collaboration with a diverse team of research and clinical staff that work together to promote this ideal through strong intersectional research. There are many possibilities to build a research career through Dana-Farber including seminars, academic publication, technical training and building mentoring relationships.

What I dislike about the company

I disapprove of nothing with my company.

Suggestions for improvement

  • PAID PARENTAL LEAVE. Flexible schedules. Options to work from home as needed. Better benefits. A more robust and well-publicized employee recognition program.

What I like about the company

It's an amazing hospital that is making groundbreaking changes in cancer treatment. The physicians I worked with were brilliant, caring, motivated, thoughtful people who genuinely care about every single one of their patients and I was proud to support their amazing efforts.

What I dislike about the company

I do think that the clinical teams are treated better than the administrative teams, and I think if just a little more attention were paid to the non-clinical workers they would be able to retain employees much longer. Simply recognizing that the administrative work is important too and offering small perks would go a long way toward improving morale.

Suggestions for improvement

  • better pay, overtime offered to hourly employees

What I like about the company

Amazing opportunities for independent work and growth

What I dislike about the company

Employees are only paid for 40hrs/week, and it is in our contracts that overtime is voluntary and will not be compensated. However the structure of the projects here take many more than 40hrs/week (usually a bare minimum of 50-60) and some employees work much more than that to get ahead. Overall the pay is poor, but consistent with other academic research institutions
