loved my collageues. Loved my role. Terrible director.
Support from management
This boss is very supportive and receptive to my abilities and growth
Colleagues work well together but our director was very out of touch
Freedom to work independently
To an extent-there is expecattions that need to be met. Sometimes they are clear, sometimes not. But most of my role required independent work as I managed events.
We often do not know of chenges until after they are decided on
The college is all for diversity. They strive for it
Attitude towards older colleagues
They treat 45 and up employees very well. Some have been there too long though and struggle with new ideas
Theer is a constant push to do on the job training. Opportunities are always available to do career growth.
Overall compensation for your work
I feel i could be paid more. I work hard and am reliable.
Office / Work Environment
I had a corner office with a lot of natural light and an openable window. They encourage you to walk to meetings to get fresh air.
The College is very aware of recycling efforts and goes out of their way to encourage and educate employees to do so.
Here the college is excellent. Very fair regarding work life balance.
The current employer i have is respectful, encouraging and provides growth
My role deals with contract work now, and these contracts are always coming.
There are accessible entrances everywhere, and there are working elevators, restrooms and such for disabilities.
Had to be perfect as i worked with the trustees and high level donors
Inclusive / Diverse
The college welcomes diversity. They have a passion for making sure all feel welcomed
Suggestions for improvement
- Look hard at those in Director positions to see if they should be moved out. Reward hard workers. Be mindful of those who 'phone it in'. Be more in touch with employees who strive to work hard.
What I like about the company
I loved working Advancement events. The work was challenging but rewarding as you saw how much the invitees enjoyed themselves. The Director I worked for was very out of touch and extremely disappointing as a leader. My colleagues were wonderful, and I left mainly due to the Director and the inability to trust in her leadership and she was not very good at recognition and promotion. The college does an excellent job with work life balance, and as a parent that is huge. They also embrace diversity and work hard to be socially conscious.
What I dislike about the company
The Director position at the college tends to be a middle management position. They should look at that particular role to see if those working on that role should be there. Accountability at the level is very sporadic. Better wages is also something that should be looked at.
