Great coworkers, revolving door management
Support from management
We need change in our department, bug executive management has historically been supportive. I just hope they recognize the changes that need to occur, soon.
My department has low morale, and little leadership. The reason we do well as nurses is most of us have been employed here a long time and function as a team, anyway.
Freedom to work independently
We are autonomous because that’s what an RN is expected to be, managers are not available or if they are, are of little help
Poor communication from management, we are made aware of changes/information when they happen
As far as I know, this is not an issue
Attitude towards older colleagues
We are all.able to transfer to other departments and I believe given a fair chance at promotions, regardless of age
Always positions available, & growth opportunities
Overall compensation for your work
DH compensates very well compared to similar companies/hospitals
Office / Work Environment
Due to hiring additional providers and an ever increasing number of patients, our large group of employees and providers sit practically on top of each other, and often are short exam rooms
We do recycle,
The work schedule is good, because it’s an outpatient clinic
I am proud to work at DH, our department has suffered greatly due to poor leadership in the past 4-5 years, but it was so much better managed prior to that, and we all looked forward to coming to work. I believe it can be that way again, so I will remain a loyal employee
Long walk from car to door for patients, no valet parking, 3 small elevators also used as service elevators, and often the automatic door openers are not working
Could be better, but satisfactory
Taking care of patients is challenging
Inclusive / Diverse
Rarely asked what our opinions are, and if we are asked, not taken seriously
Suggestions for improvement
- more office space - better handicap accessibility - experienced managers- stronger leadership - more day to day support - increase tuition reimbursement - match 401 k contributions -on site gym -on site day care
What I like about the company
I have been an employee at DH for over 10 years, I work with the best people in the world, and have good relationships with providers. I am compensated fairly and they are generous with paid time off. Other departments are running well, I believe, and my department used to as well. However, due to inexperienced managers who are not striving to be good leaders and advocates for us, my department is suffering. I am hoping things change soon, we have an involved “upper management “, who seems to be noticing our state and taking our concerns seriously, which is fairly new. I do not want to leave DH, so hoping positive changes happen soon.
What I dislike about the company
Only our day to day managers and clinical manager. I’m sure they have good intentions, but it’s a big department that needs leaders and staff advocates/supporters, I often feel management is not as involved or invested as they should be, and I’m not alone in that opinion.
