Overall compensation for your work
The pay was good, given the amount of overtime we were mandated to work. Other than that, the pay could have been higher, given the chronic hazards and physical stresses that come with the job.
Incredible pressure from management to continually work 6 days a week. Typical work week was 50-60 hrs. Even more hrs during peak season demand. Constant battle with management to be able to use PTO, as mandatory overtime became the norm. Ultimately, the lack of work/life balance is why I left this company. I love the line of work but couldn't afford to continue to physically and emotionally wear myself so thin.
Suggestions for improvement
- Strive for a better work/life balance for employees. Very high turn-around rate because of this issue. Would be more beneficial to all parties involved to simply find some passionate, skilled workers, and provide the balance needed to keep that worker around, rather than work them to the bone until they quit and start fresh by training a newcomer.
