- Many improvements have been made in the last few months, I will state the following could use improvement: • Review, revise and update recruiting and interview procedure • Provide additional training and education for office person • Updare and publish Employee Handbook • Review, revise and document all workplace policies and procedures • Establish more effective methods of communication • Solidify a clear schedule of disciplinary actions and their consequences • Create a website and develop a marketing and advertising campaign • Eliminate workplace distraction; I.e. enforce policy for non-office personnel such as office workers friends, spouse, children, etc. loitering in office, disallowing personal cell phones being used, taking personal calls at desk, browsing non-work related websites during work hours • Perform quarterly employee performance reviews • Providing paid time off, paid holidays, health / dental / vision insurance, establishing employee discounts for cell phones and other services That’s just a few that can be named off.
What I like about the company
The CEO was also the owner and founder of the company before incorporating. He’s a very kind, compassionate, understanding and fair man. There can be strains on communication due to language barriers, but overall he strives to make it feel like a family and not a company. I have been afforded countless opportunities to learn valuable skill sets that will definitely help me in my future endeavors and I know I have the support of the CEO to acquire as much knowledge and certifications as possible in order to best perform my job. Work hours can be flexible and getting permission for time needed away from the office is very easy as the CEO is very willing to be accommodating. The work environment is very relaxed and casual and the company goal is to work together to make everything wrong as smooth as possible.
What I dislike about the company
At times the CEO tries to run the company like a sole proprietorship still. The dispatch department is ran by someone severely under qualified and it shows in performance ratings. Overhauling the screening and interview process would ensure that the staff being onboarded are qualified and capable of performing all the job duties required for the position. In addition, placing more weight on the candidate’s ability to display and maintain professionalism is imperative. Hiring qualified professionals with good attitudes would drastically improve company image, customer satisfaction, vendor relations and employee morale.
