It is an ever changing job. You care for a group of children and complete a lot of paperwork to prove it.

Company Culture

The company is pretty great overall. The problem is that each of the individual centers is now run at the discression of director. Then it is dependent upon if that director is about the children and the staff or about that bonus check.

Support from management

The company is pretty great overall. The problem is that each of the individual centers is now run at the discression of director. Then it is dependent upon if that director is about the children and the staff or about that bonus check.

Teamwork

They are generally good on paper about this, but yet again it is dependent upon the center's director.

Freedom to work independently

It depends on the director. The one currently at my center is not very good at relinquishing control and so a lot of times you kind of feel as if someone is always watching over your shoulder.

Internal Communication

They have an internal email system and are constantly sending out mass emails about almost everything.

Gender Equality

Most of the staff are women right up to the CEO.

Attitude towards older colleagues

Staffing is this field runs the gambet but you best be ready to accept technology head on.

Career Development

They are all about promoting from within, but have recently made it harder to move up to management, if you so choose, by requiring the experience and degrees to meet that position.

Overall compensation for your work

As a lead teacher I would say yes, but for assistant teachers/floaters with degrees probably not so much.

Office / Work Environment

They mostly partner with other companies who provide the location then they provide the staff, and finally they work together to supply the furnishings. So generally yes.

Environmental Friendliness

It depends on the facility.

Work-Life Balance

Yet again, it depends on the director at the center location.

Company Image

I love the job, I mostly love the company (they have become a leader in Indiana for early childhood education), and the location is not bad either

Job Security

As I have said several times it is dependent upon the director. At my location my director is a bit nuts and has fired people for the craziest of reasons.

Workplace Safety

They are all about safety even making all staff take CPR and first aid every year.

Challenging Work

Taking care of the highest ratios of children that the state allows while also completing mounds of paperwork without being given much time to get it done.

Inclusive / Diverse

They are very encouraging of hearing everybody's ideas, but yet again it depends on the individual center directors.

Suggestions for improvement

  • It should be the same requirements across the board, having it in writing what the consequences for actions are. The main office should actually be required to spend so many hours in the centers per 6 months seeing what their policies require to make happen.

What I like about the company

I have worked here for over 12 years and have enjoyed watching over 125 infants cime through my room. Helping both them and their families developing a bond with them and even watching them grow as the child moves from room to room throughout the center.

What I dislike about the company

The company has about 7 locations and each location is run as a separate entity at the discretion of the director with little oversite from the main office. So the staff have a broad outline of rules to follow which are then defined by the interpretation of the center director. At my location, most of the time the director is more than happy to bend over backwards to accommodate parents then actually help solve problems in the classroom. The director is very wishy-washy and changes her mind frequently. Her reactions and responses are dependent upon her mood and she is always spouting poor poor pitiful me statements.
