Moral plummeted with takeover of upper management in all departments. What used to feel like a family company now is now torn apart with various departments working against each other and pointing fingers instead of working toward a common goal.
Support from management
After the untimely death of the former I.T. VP, the replacement leader brought in all their cohorts from their previous employer and tried to begin running the I.T. department like their former department w/o understanding the culture, needs, skills, and structure of their current company and I.T. department. Customers have complained this is not the same Dayco as 3 or 4 years ago, and the replacement of upper-level management, both I.T. and non-I.T., is what has changed.
There is no longer a sense of teamwork between different areas of I.T. One group will say "it''s not our area" and pass it to the next, and around and around it goes.
Communication within my area (applications) is good, but communication between the different I.T. groups is almost non-existent.
Training is supposedly being scheduled/offered, but I have not seen it yet.
Overall compensation for your work
I fell I am compensated fairly well.
Office / Work Environment
Workspace is bright and comfortable and tools and equipment are all up-to-date.
There is recycling of paper, but that is mostly for security purposes. Their is no recycling offered for other purposes, and visitors are given styrofoam cups.
There is a LOT of overtime. To be honest, it is getting better, but it was to the point of ridiculousness last year. There is still much overtime, and there is the pressure to answer your phone and E-mail at all hours and all days.
Dayco used to have a good image, but it has fallen in the past few years - especially in the Aftermaket arena.
My job feels relatively stable.
The building does have ramps and elevators. Not all doors are automatic.
Some loose carpet on the stairs was pointed out to our "safety" person a few years ago, and it is still there.
The work is very challenging both in scope and with the ability to learn new things. I am proud of the work I produce when I am able to take the time necessary to do it properly.
Inclusive / Diverse
The company does appear to value diversity.
