- Dayton Technology Group (Vandalia, OH / United States)24.Nov 2015
I felt the climate was hot and very deadline oriented where I was being overworked and had to be able to work overtime to keep production flowing relatively smoothly. Upper management didn't support its staff members and was unwilling to work with changing schedules based on family emergency. The culture appears to be individual based division where everyone is pitted against one another and its a dog eat dog enviroment.
Support from management
I was insulted for going out unprepared onsite to a customer than later reprimanded because I didn't complete the job because the company didn't provide the tools necessary for the job assigned.
Teamwork is a part of any business, this company makes you feel like its a family and they all help you if they can with sharing the workload. This is a ruse to keep you working for low pay and when the hammer comes down co-workers will throw you under a bus to save their own skin.
I felt under appreciated and overworked with no incentive in sight long or short term
Freedom to work independently
While working for this company I felt that all my work was being investigated and reexamined at every chance to ensure the job was done correctly. There was very limited freedoms offered at this company with regard to how a job was to get done. The company is a stick in mud and unwilling to trust it's employees to get the job done, correctly.
I felt this company lacked heavily in company communication, work phones and emails a like didn't help network engineers communicate with management or payroll regarding ordering equipment and watching the deadlines.
I felt that the women in the office were respected and had opportunities to advance in the office without any issues or discrimination.
Attitude towards older colleagues
The company looked down on new younger generation employees , where the older generation employees were respected by the newer younger employees the respect wasn't mutual
No room for advancement within the company or room for promotion.
Company wants employees to be certified but unwilling to pay the cost of the certificates the employee holds.
Overall compensation for your work
Wages compared to expectations and responsibilities are far from where they needed to be, I was struggling to pay my rent and gas mileage that this company made me drive from site to site.
Highly Unsatisfactory salary positions
Office / Work Environment
Required to put in overtime without compensation for time spent after hours
Office smelt of heavy smoke and management refused to go outside to smoke.
Netowkr engineers given old laptops and expected to work as if they were brand new.
Lighting : the office seemed to be beaten down where some lights died out and weren't scheduled to be replaced.
Company was aware of the changed in the industry and new security standards.
Work hours are sporadic at best where you are scheduled to work 8-5 but can end up working an 8-8pm workday more than 3 days a week as the company is understaffed
I felt a lot of peer pressure with regards to working hours it was almost looked down apon when you left at 5pm.
When I had a family emergency I called in and they demanded proof that my family member was in the hospital.
I got hired on and the company employees where bashing on a previous employee who had found a better job or a different direction. Image from the outside looks great untill you get into the company and experience the different tiers and cliques within the company.
Today no job is secure but DTGI put me in a hostile work environment where if seemed like I was competing with fellow employees for a safe spot in a game of musical chairs.
Financially the small company is incapable of promising or displaying job security outside of management.
The office is on the second story building shared with a shipping company, there is no ramps or accessible access for disabled employees.
This company provides no training on OSHA procedures and will expect their employees to be able to work on day one a toss into the fire and see if they get burnt objective.
I felt that the company had a role that needed to be filled and no one else wanted to do it so I ended up stuck in that position doing a set checks on systems and equipment. Only being pulled away if the company didn't have enough staff to cover the work load.
Inclusive / Diverse
I felt that the company offered unrealistic goals of their employees with regards to qualification deadlines and promotion opertunities were slim to nonexistent
Suggestions for improvement
- Treat your employees like humans not as machines Pay your employees for what they are worth and accommodate for lifes emergencies
What I like about the company
Friendly Co-workers ( Unless its their neck on the line)
What I dislike about the company
Work hours : not flexible and overtime ( Not paid for)
Office location inconvenience
Mileage compensation is a disgrace to your employees
Qualified employees you will be under paid at this company
