Company Culture

Management talks the talk, but doesn't walk the walk. The dollar rules this company, not the management.

Support from management

Most first line managers are hourly guys who got promoted by default. No direction or training to get them where they need to be. Causes low morale among the ranks.

Teamwork

Collaboration is a word the DCP uses in employee meetings. Not one that it implements into it's psyche.

Gender Equality

All the working force are men. All the HR office jobs are women. It all balances out, doesn't it?

Attitude towards older colleagues

Company Philosophy: These guys have the most vacation and the most pay. Why don't we find a reason to replace them with someone younger and cheaper?

You're on your own.

Overall compensation for your work

Lower than average pay for similar midstream companies.

Office / Work Environment

Cubical village in the offices and extreme temperature both directions where the rubber meets the road.

Environmental Friendliness

We only self-report environmental issues because its the law. People make great jokes about the lesser prairie chicken where we have invaded their habitat.

Work-Life Balance

Your work is your life. Live with it.

Company Image

Good in Denver where the corporate office is, but very lackluster in the field locations. DCP has been referred to by producers as the "Company of last choice" to sell gas to.

Job Security

At will employment is exactly that. If they don't feel like developing you, you're out.

Workplace Safety

We don't care what happens to employees as long as it doesn't make the OSHA log. We will gladly pay workers comp, but by all means (including lying) don't let it get onto the OSHA log.

Challenging Work

It's a challenge to keep people engaged when the assets they work in are shrinking instead of growing, while competitors all around you are growing exponentially.

Company Culture

This culture is more like a culture shock. Lots of silos and classism.

Support from management

It depends on who your manager is. I've had great ones and a couple terrible ones.

Overall compensation for your work

This company is cheap! They've lost a lot of knowledge, educated and experienced employees because they will not match salaries or even try. Several who have left said they doubled their salaries.

Job Security

They do all they can to try to prevent headcount reductions.

Inclusive / Diverse

This company definitely needs to work on diversity. I've noticed that there are not any non-Caucasian employees in director positions or above. There are very few non-Caucasian employees in management positions. My observation is mostly that of the corporate offices.

Suggestions for improvement

  • Training on employment law. Some managers abuse their authority and they are a liability for this company.

Flexibility, attention to safety, health and wellness.

What I dislike about the company

Needs to work on equal opportunities for all. Diversity and inclusion is lacking particularly at the management level and above.

Company Culture

It can be a great company, but it depends on the department. The Information Technology department has a toxic environment. Work-life balance is unreasonable.

Support from management

Executive management leaves middle management out of the loop. Lack of transparency in decision making. More interest in appearances than results. The good-ole-boy system is alive and well here.

Teamwork

Employees work together fairly well, but clicks exist and much of management tolerates it.

Internal Communication

The company does a very good job informing employees of goals and performance on at least a quarterly basis.

Career Development

Limited opportunities for career development...unless you are one of the good-ole-boys.

Overall compensation for your work

Provide matching 401k and contribute to HSA savings plan. Considerable annual bonus compensates for below market salary. The rest of the benefits are pretty standard.

Work-Life Balance

Habitually understaffed and always looking for a way to put more on your plate while failing to replace position vacancies and outsourcing jobs to India.

Layoffs, unfilled vacancies, and outsourcing of the rest.

The OSHA safety record speaks for itself.

Old technologies at play. The Oil and Gas industry is not cutting edge.
