As noted before; there is a concerted effort to do so but it becomes clear that one must be careful and circumspect to the "office politic'. Having both line and management experience; it is not clear to me if managements efforts are being sabotaged by some individual lower level 'leaders' or that managers truly are facetious and see some value in relying upon individuals who have little or no interpersonal skills.
Support from management
Initially I was impressed with my direct supervisor and there is a concerted effort by managers to be personal and supportive.
However, it is superficial because managers appear to rely upon a select clique of individuals to pass only personal observations and it immediately fosters mistrust and atmosphere of gossip and innuendo. Even among the 'clique' there is disharmony and gossip. It is pervasive and unproductive.
