Sometimes the culture is too lax to me

You had no choice but to work independently because previous supervisor either didn't know anything and/or confused the situation further.

I really enjoyed my co-workers. I found them to be the most supportive professionally and personally.

Company Culture

Constant change without discussion or consideration on how it might affect employees is their motto.

Support from management

Some are good managers but there’s always a micromanager that ruins your day. A lot of labor harassment goes unnoticed.

Teamwork

Everyone’s workload is so heavy, it is stressful when other people’s work are assigned to you. Which creates a bad atmosphere.

Freedom to work independently

None. Rules and policies must be followed at all times and micromanagers prevent you from doing your job freely. Always on your case waiting for you to mess up.

Internal Communication

When meeting to solve a problem occur, not one thing employees suggest ever makes it to an approval.

Managers treat older people badly. Management needs to work on treating older employees with compassion.

Career Development

Very little.

Overall compensation for your work

Not enough for the work we perform. We have a caseload that should be the work of 3 people not one.

Stressful all day. You never know when you’re going to get yelled at either by a client or a manager.

Sometimes is ok.

Work-Life Balance

The workload is so intenese you don’t want to take time off to go to doctor’s appointments or to take a sick day because the following day your workload has doubled.

Company Image

Bad. No one has anything good to say about any Welfare office. Clients don’t take into consideration that budget when it comes to hiring is always low. We can’t providee the service clients deserve when we have a million other things to do.

Job Security

With Trump as president, who knows what will happen to our department.

Doors don’t open automatically.

No boundaries. We can get shot at any moment. Easy access to intake area.

It’s challenging in all the wrong places. A challenge for us is to try to get to our overdue work somewhat in time before we get in trouble.

Everything, from the understaffing to the company culture. Is a survive if you can environment. Always being yelled at by headquarters and our job is not appreciated.

Being a homcare worker I don't usua,,y get to see other workers often if at all.

Support from management

I have previously stated thafind it difficult to get in contact with the case managers if needed.

As I have stated before, I do not work with other homecare workers.

I am the one who is being trusted, since I am a homecare worker working in a clients home.

If a problem arose it was difficult to get ahold of the case manager.

They seem to treat everyone equally and with respect.

Being the Department of Human Services - Aging Services, they do everything they can to help those who are older.

Yes, there is ongoing training throughout the year but there isnt any room for growth or moving up.

We do get paid pretty fairly along with benefits.

You cannot really hold them accountable as you are working in someones home, so it varies.

We are given a training class to help with any incedences that may arise.

Depends on the daily needs of the client, however it can be emotianally taxing especially when you become close to your client.

Because of the many backgrounds that clients may come from there is a diverse group of homecare workers throughout the state.

Suggestions for improvement

  • Along with having the option to attend different trainings throughout the year, it would be great to have an opportunity to "move up". Having homecare worker managers would be really helpful and could even act as liaison to the case manager.

What I like about the company

I have gained meaningful relationships with some amazing clients. It always feels good to help others who may not have the ability to do their day to day tasks anymore. Cooking and cleaning for a client who truly appreciates it is a great feeling. I have some flexibility in the hours and days that I choose to work which works out great since I have a family.

What I dislike about the company

I wish that it was easier for Homecare workers to be able to get ahold of the case managers, especially if something came up that was critical for your client.

What I like about the company

Work site is only eight miles from home and there are never any traffic delays. Private offices which allow for adequate privacy.
