I worked with mainly women, older married with children and most with no college degree. The manager and supervisors were not professional some what mediocre and handed the responsibility of training and over-seeing to uneducated, lazy, and women who didn't want to properly train their staff or coworkers. This is nothing new but they really would gossip and misplace documents purposely and talk about each other badly to claimant's and argue with each other about nonsense in the presence of customer and claimants. Going out for a smoke even when their break was over is a huge part of the company culture.
Support from management
Management did what ever they desired because they were in the union. They felt untouchable, if you didn't play along you would be alone. They cross trained a selective few who they felt were middle aged and would not really ever reach management status. Really selfish and insecure, sad actually.
The supervisor caused a lot of separation at the job, she would talk to anybody that would listen about another employee. The coworkers were mainly in clicks they would target anyone who was a threat physically or if they showed to much interest in learning the job. They would always mention their religion out loud and only include the few that belong to their church. A lot of black and white women in positions of power without deserving it. I understand know many of these women are in management positions and will continue to cross train and hire people that they feel less threatened by it's really a topic that needs to be discussed more often.
Freedom to work independently
The supervisor micromanaged everything and she also discriminated.
emails were send out to everyone, if you read them good for you, if you didn't no one cared.
The pay was fine and it allowed for family time after 5p and weekends off.
Suggestions for improvement
- Its difficult to just give a suggestion, its a major change that needed to happen after the several complaint's filed against the supervisor and managers by several employees.
What I like about the company
that there always hiring and the positions are diverse that they offer.
What I dislike about the company
The women who are out of control with each other. They are to caught up in the fact that they once race or age group must continue to get cross trained and promoted. SAD!
