in this field you need to know yourself, be confident, be able to play well in office politics, and keep to yourself.
Be a quick learner, and know your stuff.
Trainings are available, but if management feels it's not suitable for your position, training will not happen.
Overall compensation for your work
Pay is not that great, but pretty decent benefits. Also under a Union so you have to pay the union dues (mandatory)
Vacation and time off is great.
I don't think any job has that type of security, but since under a union getting fired or laid off is a task. Also if there is a budget cut your position can be at risk, since we are under the counties financial budget.
What I like about the company
Set pay, know what your check will look like every two weeks
What I dislike about the company
Difficult to move up in the organization. Need to take exams, that you could be waiting years for an answer or availability.
