Poor. Entirely an executive training ground with only short term objectives. CEO and executive staff rotate every 24-36 months, either terminated or advanced to more viable corporate entities.
Support from management
Little to no support, culture was entirely based on short term results most often related to individual self interest versus long term company viability.
Teamwork was limited and based again on short term vested self interest. Very difficult to maintain any continuity or complete any team related activities, as personnel and objesctives were in a contuing state of flux.
Freedom to work independently
Ability to work without being continuously micro-managed was mostly dependent on the reality that other areas required daily resources to keep them functioning. Lack of system development and implementation required direct supervision resources to be the process which kept the "systems" artificially operating.
I had 11 "bosses", 7 offices and 3 entirely new sets of CEO's and executive staff in less than 5 years.
Women and men appeared to be treated relatively equally.
Attitude towards older colleagues
Lack of respect and appreciation for older, experienced work force.
Training environment for executive staff in older poorly maintained facilities, using antiquated production systems and superficial modern manufacturing techniques.
Overall compensation for your work
Union facility, so compensation was/is median.
Office / Work Environment
Old building, poorly maintained with "newer" production equipment installed in the 1960-70's.
Company utilizes historical customer quality perception to its advantage. However, equipment, manufacturing and quality systems are in a continues state of degradation. Perception is not reality and quality continues to decline.
Being used as a training facility, personnel changes are very common. Job assignments and responsibilities are dynamically changing as well, making it difficult to maintain any continuity and to be effective.
Performance is an ongoing moving target based on short-term individual based agendas.
Older building with accessibility
Superficial safety mechanisms.
Dangerous work environment, but with the appearance of a concerted effort to improve safety in 2017. However, it is much to early to determine whether this will be sustainable or just another individual checkbox for an executives advancement.
Parent corporate entity required compliance with current eco friendly systems. One area of minimal annual advancement.
Suggestions for improvement
- Do your best to balance your short term tenure with professionals whom are trying to support the companies longer term success.
What I like about the company
Diamond is the smallest corporates entity of a much larger parent company.
If you can transfer to another division, under the parent company, the remaining divisions are extremely good organizations to work.
What I dislike about the company
Executive training facility.
Executive team turns over every 24-36 months, which creates a tremendous amount of turnover within the entire organization. Focus is conflicted between the companies longterm success and an individuals short term vested self interest.
