Changed for the worse
Bonuses are not given to those who over achieve, rather they are given to the 'teachers pet'.
Support from management
Went to supervisor numerous times about another employee. I was told 'I'll talk to her, I'll take care of it' etc. I finally took care of it myself and got fired for telling her she couldn't talk to me like that.
Depends most seasoned employees are very helpful. I did have one girl tell me that she would never help a specific co-worker because she didn't like her. Huh....
Freedom to work independently
Some people can read the paper at their desk everyday while others struggle to get their job done.
I went to HR two years in a row about the handbook having incorrect information in it and they didn't change it! Very poor communication and the rules can change daily.
Attitude towards older colleagues
They've always liked older people so they don't have to pay them retirement.
Overall compensation for your work
Salaries don't match responsibilities. Benefits are getting fewer and fewer.
Office / Work Environment
Can't give a 5 star...old transformed warehouse so you have hot and cold spots.
Managers are the only ones who talk fondly of their company because they are afraid if someone hears them talk negatively that they'll get fired.
They've downsized departments then 6 months later hired for same positions.
They wouldn't let a service dog come in until EEOC stepped in and said they had to.
You might feel good but then bosses all say 'well, that is your job'.
Inclusive / Diverse
Seen it over and over again, management only listens, never follows through when they should.
Suggestions for improvement
- Listen and follow thru. If someone comes to you about an issue don't simply say "he's young", "She's new and if I were new I'd probably do it wrong too" or my personal favorite "I can't do anything about it, the decision has already been made". All of which I heard supervisors say!
What I like about the company
Most hourly staff will bend over backwards to help.
What I dislike about the company
Management needs to treat everyone with respect. I personally got tired of managers laughing at suggestions I made to save time and money (on one occasion they made sure to praise a salary staff who suggested the very same thing!)
