Company Culture

Distrustful, political culture.

Support from management

Undefined targets can not be unrealistic, but they can be unattainable.

Completely incompetent middle management. No direction whatsoever. Machiavellian.... contradictory....mixed messages, intimidation, games.....unethical....

Teamwork

Team members fearful and discouraged. Politically distraught.

Freedom to work independently

No autonomy. Report to everyone, scrum master, to product manager, to team lead to departmental manager. Ever wonder who's in charge? Certainly not I.

Internal Communication

Too many meetings to call more meetings. Little resolution. Minimal progress. Bogus worker goals and performance assessment program. Completely superficial.

Gender Equality

Women engineers are treated rather 2nd rate. But then again, so are the male Engineers. Depends upon the dept. you work in. Gender, ethnicity all have their influence amidst such hostility and fear.

Attitude towards older colleagues

Older people simply don't exist at this company. I can think of maybe three employees that were "aged", per say.

Career Development

Training is encourage, until one takes time to attain it. Daily goings on, however inept they often are, are of the utmost urgency. No time for anything but spinning in circles, playing games and keeping up appearances.

Overall compensation for your work

Pay is average, fair.

Office / Work Environment

No privacy. No cubes. Company trying to pretend it's a hipster startup. Employees seeking refuge by hiding in lab areas. Manager's using software to spy on workers while they type. The coffee was good.

Environmental Friendliness

Company is politically correct in all the right ways.

Work-Life Balance

9:00 scrums. Workers commuting from all over Bay Area, arriving stressed and late. Managers pressure subordinates to work 10 hour days, while themselves cutting out at 4:30 p.m. to commute back to the South Bay.

Company Image

It is just a brand. Little else. Clever proliferation of licensing fees is the game all along.

Job Security

Employee's shuffled around at the drop of a hat. Employees mysteriously gone one day, new contractors soon to arrive. Unstable job, for the less politically motivated. Future of company in question, creating hostile work environment. Culture of Fear.

Handicapped Accessibility

Sure, it's the law.

Workplace Safety

Physically safe environment.

Challenging Work

Work is challenging in the sense that objectives simply can not be met within such a dysfunctional work structure.

With the exception of R&D, although the technology is fundamentally simple, it is unique and complex in that regard. While objectives are so absurd and misguided, there can be little to be proud of. Very little sense of accomplishment.

Inclusive / Diverse

Diverse, but not exactly inclusive.

Ethnic groups still clinging together within safe little droves of belonging. Excessive Ethnic nepotism, cultural bias, suspicion and favoritism between various groups. Nothing unusual here.

Suggestions for improvement

  • Consider perhaps being an audio/video based company.

What I like about the company

Fair salary.

What I dislike about the company

Unethical treatment of employees. Dangerous tight rope of daily political maneuvering.
