People are always trying to leave after the reality sinks in.
Support from management
DM was too overwhelmed to help much. Their hands were tied anyway.
When your average turnover rate is 86% there is no teamwork.
Freedom to work independently
You could go weeks without seeing the DM. You try and make decisions, but then the DM shows and overrides all you have done.
Office / Work Environment
Unsafe on all levels. I tried to get a roll down door for months but instead had to come in at all hours of the night 12 times, to secure the store all night, then work my normal shift. Then I had to pay a police officer out of the register (aka, my potential bonus). The $ for the door was allocated then rescinded. Then LP just paid for it.
Actually deserves Zero stars
It's like trying to stem the flow through a broken levy. You never feel as though you are moving forward, without moving several steps back.
Inclusive / Diverse
They are desperate, and have learned they can't exclude anyone.
Suggestions for improvement
- Treat your employees as partners that help you make profits not disposable garbage.
What I like about the company
What I dislike about the company
Cruel company that has no respect for the people who are responsible for creating profits. The company belongs to a corporate organization that black balls employees from other companies that reside in the bad neighborhoods that DG resides in. So if you get fired from Family Dollar you are black balled from working at Dollar General. This makes NO sense.
